When the holder of a negotiable instrument has himself endorsed it, or has himself made any addition thereto, by way of indorsement, or has himself raised any alteration thereto, or has himself raised any alteration thereto, or has himself raised any endorsement thereon, the burden of proving that such endorsement, addition, alteration, or endorsement was made by some person by authority of the rightful holder shall be on the person who asserts the same.
