Statutory Content of Section 30

Section 30 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 states that 'a bill of exchange may be discharged by operation of law. The discharge may be made by the death of the drawer or the drawee, or by the bankruptcy of the drawer or the drawee. The discharge may also be made by the expiration of the time limit for presenting the bill for payment, or by the loss or destruction of the bill. The discharge is effective from the date of the event that caused the discharge, and it discharges the drawer and the drawee from liability.
