According to Section 29 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, 'a bill of exchange may be discharged by payment. The payment may be made by the drawer, or by the drawee. The payment must be made in accordance with the terms of the bill, and it must be made to the holder of the bill. The payment may be made in cash, or by the delivery of goods or the performance of services. The payment is effective from the date of payment, and it discharges the drawer and the drawee from liability.
