In this Act the following words and expressions are used in the following senses, unless a contrary intention appears from the context: (1) 'Acceptance', (2) 'Acceptor', (3) 'Agreement', (4) 'Promise', (5) 'Promisor', (6) 'Proposer', (7) 'Contract', (8) 'Consideration'. The interpretation clause is crucial in understanding the various terms used in the Act. The courts have interpreted these terms in various judgments to provide clarity on the provisions of the Act.
