Section 140 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, states that 'the consideration may be in the form of a promise.' The consideration may be in the form of a promise. The court in the case of Ram Chandra v. Jagdishwar, (1993) 2 SCC 22, held that a promise to do something is a valid consideration.
