Section 62 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 deals with the grounds for challenge of an arbitrator. The section states that an arbitrator may be challenged only on any of the grounds mentioned in this section. The grounds for challenge include lack of impartiality or independence, being a party to the dispute, being a representative of a party, being a legal representative of a party, being a person who has a financial interest in the outcome of the arbitration, and any other ground which may be deemed sufficient by the court. The section also provides that the challenge of an arbitrator shall be made within 15 days from the date of appointment of the arbitrator.
