What does Section 53 of CPA say?

The Chief Commissioner and other Commissioners shall be appointed by the Central Government on the recommendation of a Selection Committee. As per Section 53 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, 'The Chief Commissioner and other Commissioners shall be appointed by the Central Government on the recommendation of a Selection Committee.' The Selection Committee shall consist of the following members, namely: (a) Cabinet Secretary, Government of India - Chairperson; (b) Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India - Member; (c) Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Legal Affairs, Government of India - Member. The Chief Commissioner and other Commissioners shall hold office for a term of four years from the date on which they enter upon their office.
