What does Section 297 of Companies Act say?

If the Central Government, on an application made to it in this behalf or otherwise, has reason to believe that a company is being or has been associated in any promotion, management or working of an offshore company, it may, by order, direct an investigation to be made by a person appointed by it in this behalf to examine into the affairs of the company and the offshore company, and the company shall be bound to furnish all such information and explanation as the person appointed may require.
