Statutory Content of Section 71

Where any document relating to immovable property situated in a foreign country is presented for registration, the Registrar shall, if the document is not already registered in that country, require the person presenting it to produce a certificate from the proper authority in that country, or from the diplomatic or consular representative of that country in India, to the effect that the document has been registered in that country, or that it is a document of a class which, by the law of that country, is not required to be registered.
