When the instrument is duly presented for payment, if the drawee bank makes default in paying it, together with any interest and charges thereon, the holder may, without prejudice to any other rights which he may have against the drawer, either demand immediate payment of the amount of the cheque in cash or remit the cheque to the drawer at the address registered with a bank for collection or, as the case may be, at the address registered with the bank for collection, and the drawer shall make payment of the said amount in cash or remit it to the holder at the address so registered within a period of thirty-six hours from the time the drawer receives the notice referred to in sub-section (1) of section 88.
