When it is shown that any person is in possession of a bill of exchange, hundi or cheque, and that he is seeking to enforce the same against any person, and it is not proved that the possession was obtained by theft, or by the exercise of any right or authority, the burden of proving that the person in possession obtained the bill, hundi or cheque in any other manner than by purchase, shall be upon the person seeking to enforce the same.
