धारा 53

The punishments to which offenders are liable under the provisions of this Code are— First—Death; Secondly—Imprisonment for life; Thirdly—Imprisonment of either description for a term not exceeding fourteen years, but which shall not be less than seven years; Fourthly—Imprisonment of either description for a term not exceeding seven years, but which shall not be less than three years; Fifthly—Imprisonment of either description for a term not exceeding three years, but which shall not be less than one year; Sixthly—Imprisonment of either description for a term not exceeding one year, but which shall not be less than half of that term; Seventhly—Fine;
