Section 50 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, deals with the effect of a promise to pay a sum of money at a later time. The section states that where a person has promised to pay a sum of money at a later time, the promise is valid, unless the promisee has given something in exchange for the promise that is not of equal value to the sum of money promised.
