Statutory Content of Section 134

Section 134 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, states that 'if the consideration is impossible, or is unascertainable, or is illegal, or involves an impossibility, or is unenforceable, the agreement is void.' The consideration must be possible and ascertainable. The court in the case of Harbhajan Singh v. Karam Singh, (1992) 2 SCC 431, held that an agreement with an impossible consideration is void.
