Statutory Content of Section 51

The Central Government shall, by notification, establish a Central Consumer Protection Authority to regulate consumer markets, protect consumers' rights and prevent unfair trade practices. As per Section 51 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, 'The Central Government shall, by notification, establish a Central Consumer Protection Authority to regulate consumer markets, protect consumers' rights and prevent unfair trade practices in the country.' The Authority shall have the power to investigate and take action against any person, firm, or entity that engages in unfair trade practices. The Authority shall also have the power to impose penalties and fines on any person, firm, or entity that violates the provisions of this Act.
