Statutory Content of Section 408

The Central Government may, at any time, by order in writing, require any company or class of companies to furnish to it such information with respect to its affairs as the Central Government may desire, and may also require the company or class of companies to produce before it, at such place and time as may be specified in the order, such books, accounts and vouchers of the company or class of companies as the Central Government may desire to see, and may also direct an inquiry to be made by a person appointed by the Central Government into the affairs of the company or class of companies.
