What does Section 89 of Registration Act, 1908 say?

Where any document required to be registered under section 17 is presented for registration after the period prescribed for its registration has expired, and the party presenting the document proves to the satisfaction of the registrar that he was absent from the district during the whole of the period prescribed for the registration of the document, and that the document has been presented for registration within the period of three months from the date of the party's return to the district, the registrar shall, on payment of the fee prescribed, register the document, and shall also enter in the register and in the index a note of the date on which the document was registered, and shall also enter in the index a note of the date on which the document was presented for registration.
