What does Section 69 of Contract Act say?

Section 69 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, states that a promise may be express or implied. The section further provides that an express promise is one which is made in words, while an implied promise is one which is inferred from the circumstances of the case. The Supreme Court of India has held that an implied promise is as binding as an express promise. (Fateh Chand v. Bal Kishan Das, AIR 1963 SC 1405).
