What does Section 27 of Companies Act say?

A director shall vacate office if he incurs any of the disqualifications specified in section 164. A director may resign his office by giving notice in writing to the company. The resignation of a director shall take effect from the date on which the notice is received by the company or from such later date as may be specified in the notice. A director who has vacated office under this section shall be eligible for reappointment as director. The company shall, within thirty days from the date of vacation of office of a director, intimate the registrar the particulars of the director, including his name, address, occupation and other relevant details.
