The Central Government may, for the purpose of ascertaining whether a company has failed to comply with the provisions of this Act or the rules made thereunder, require the company to furnish such information as it may require and to produce such books and documents as it may require for the purpose of inspection and the company shall be bound to furnish such information and produce such books and documents as aforesaid and if any company fails to comply with any requisition made under this section, the company and every officer of the company who is in default shall be punishable with fine which may extend to one lakh rupees and where the failure or default continues, with a further fine which may extend to one lakh rupees for every day after the first during which the failure or default continues.
