Where the parties have agreed on a method of appointing an arbitrator or arbitrators or of installing an appointing authority, the parties shall use that method. Where the parties have not made such an agreement, the arbitral tribunal shall consist of three arbitrators, and the parties shall jointly appoint one arbitrator. If the parties fail to agree on the third arbitrator, either party may, within thirty days from the date of receipt of a request by the other party to do so, apply to the court to appoint the third arbitrator. The court shall appoint the third arbitrator after giving due notice to the parties. The third arbitrator so appointed shall be appointed as an umpire. The arbitral tribunal shall be constituted within a period of sixty days from the date of receipt of the request by the other party to do so. The arbitral tribunal shall be constituted in accordance with the provisions of this section.
